When medical emergencies occur, and they do occur often, most people turn to the nearest emergency room. But what if the nearest emergency room was too far to get to in time? That is the threat much of rural America faces, even here in Vermont. Dr. Louis Meyers talks with an ER Physician at Springfield Hospital about critical access hospitals, which Springfield has been designated as such. He also talks about Emergency Medicine training for physicians with ER doctors from University of Vermont Medical Center and Rutland Regional Medical Center.
